# Switching to Rutledge from old software

Leaving old software should not stop your work. Your fund book, its history and your files come over in a few weeks. Each fund is checked before you rely on it. [Try the platform](/try) first, with a sample fund book.

## What comes over
Each fund's commitment, every call and payout, its values over time and its reports. Each entity's books, with the opening balances and the history you want to keep. Your policy mix, its bands and your index choices. Your files: letters, notices, statements, deals and old diligence notes. Your users, and who can sign off on what.

## Your history, checked
Pull your fund book out of the old system as files or spreadsheets. We load them and check them. For each fund, the money paid in, the payouts and the last value are matched to the manager's latest statement. Any gap is listed for you to look at. Nothing goes live until you sign off.

## Old papers read on the way in
Past notices, statements and reports are read as they load. Each one is filed with its fund and its manager. A number the old system missed shows up as a gap in the check. Old diligence notes go into each fund's case. So the history is there when that manager comes back with a new fund.

## Your first six weeks
- **Week 1:** a kickoff call. We set up users, sign-offs, entities and your policy. Manager mail starts to come in.
- **Weeks 2 and 3:** your fund book and its history load. Each fund is checked, and you look at the gaps.
- **Week 4:** the books open, with currencies, rates and opening balances.
- **Weeks 5 and 6:** we set up your lineup, your index choices and your style and factor work. You sign off and go live.

## What it takes from you
One person who knows the fund book, for a few hours a week, is most often enough. That person pulls the old data, answers questions about odd entries and looks over the check. A second person signs off on the policy and on who can do what. We do the loading, the checks and the setup.

## When it pays off
In week one, notices and reports are read for you, not typed in. By week three, every fund has its PME, Direct Alpha and pacing on its real history. At your first quarter end on the platform, the close board, the books and the board pack all come from one place.

## Run both for a quarter
Some offices like to run the old system next to the new one for one quarter. At the end, both books are compared, and each gap is traced to its entry. Then you can turn off the old system, with your history safe in the new one. [Talk with us](/contact) for a written plan for your office.

## Try it before you switch
You don't have to take our word for it. Open the sample fund book now. You do not need to sign up to look. Then add your work email to open the live workspace and ask your own questions. [Try the platform](/try) today.
